Need a Plumber for Water Heater Installation or Repair?

There's nothing like taking a cold shower to make you realize just how important your water heater is. But how do you tell if it's a minor issue or something more serious? The answer is simple, if it leaks, it’s probably serious. The definite sign that your water heater needs replacing is a slow drip underneath, usually showing up as a puddle of rusty water. This is normally an indication that the tank has rusted all the way through (a nonrepairable issue).

If you see a drip, you're going to want to replace the water heater right away. Water heaters are under pressure, small leaks can become large leaks quickly and there's a lot of water in a water heater.

Symptoms of a Dying Water Heater

Water heaters are remarkable in that they are simple devices with complex parts. Their ability to heat water is straightforward. The tricky part is learning how to make the best decision based on your specific situation. Knowing that decision will require you to look at your water heater like a person – what has it been through, and what are its current symptoms?

The Water

There are two tell-tale signs that something is going wrong

1. If the water is rusty, that means that either the water has been sitting far too long or that it is beginning to erode the interior of the system. Both are bad for everyday use.

2.  If you notice water stands by the base of your machine, then you have a problem. This means that there is a leak and that there is corrosion which has completely eroded. These are the most dangerous since they may lead to fires.

The Age

While most water heaters may be able to have an extended shelf life at times, it also is important to keep in mind that there is an expiration date on them. All water heaters are required to last ten years or so, but if your heater is nearing the end of its lifespan, you need to replace it because there is a very sharp cutoff point for when they become fully functional, and deadly risks can happen if you don’t.

Rumbling and noise

The water heater you choose is one of the most important choices in your home. If you hear noise from your water heater, that’s not a good thing. That means that there is sediment on the bottom of your tank. Now, what happens is that if you have water that isn’t very pure coming into a system, it will boil and become hardened at the bottom of the tank, which ruins efficiency.
